Plot
15-year-old Oliver Tate has two objectives: To lose his virginity before his next birthday, and to extinguish the flame between his mother and an ex-lover who has resurfaced in her life.
Storyline Precocious Oliver struggles with being popular in school but when a dark-haired beauty takes interest in him, he's determined to become the best boyfriend in the world. Meanwhile, his parents' already rocky relationship is threatened when his mother's ex-boyfriend moves in next door. Oliver makes some unorthodox plans to ensure that his parents stay together and that Jordana still likes him.

Each of the main characters has a colour which can be seen in their clothes and possessions. Oliver is blue, Jordana is red, Jill is yellow, Lloyd is brown and Graham is black. As Oliver gets to know Jordana more and more red sneaks into his palette.

The pencil drawing of Oliver's mom initially appears with a single half way fold when she looked at it. When Oliver found it, it was folded twice. But on close up of the drawing, the folds have completely disappeared.

Rating: 9/10
'Submarine' is a wonderfully engaging film. Along with being very
funny, It genuinely understands and insightfully explores, teen anxiety
and communication/perception troubles. While watching it, I felt like I
was experiencing the story first hand. As a result of an artfully made,
endearing and enjoyable experience, the film gently implies a
progressive and positive message.
The film also shows the tremendous versatility and courage of filmmaker
Richard Ayoade. 'Submarine' has created its own category, as it's quite
different from Ayoade's brilliant TV comedies, It has a very unique,
personal language and sensibility, which is equally thrilling and
satisfying for the viewers. The casting is perfect as well, each actor
makes their character ring with an authentic and lively human truth.
