Shame, Shame, Shame -- Not Factual -- Alex Gibney Never Even Interviewed Julian Assange

Rating: 1/10

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange warns that "We Steal Secrets" is "a lie upon a lie and a massive propaganda attack on WikiLeaks." The whistleblowing Internet site also tweeted, "In the new anti-WikiLeaks Gibney doc, he also misrepresents himself as a former WikiLeaks spokesperson. He was never that either." Oscar-winning Director Oliver Stone has also attacked the film adding, "I don't think most people in the US realize how important WikiLeaks is and why Julian's case needs support. Julian Assange did much for free speech and is now being victimized by the abusers of that concept." Jennifer Robinson, a legal adviser to Assange, warns it misses key facts. "This is, of course, a film about WikiLeaks, about the largest leak in history," Robinson says. "It touches on incredibly important issues about journalism and whistleblowing; but, unfortunately, I do not think that this film does justice to those issues."

Stone also criticized another upcoming drama about Julian Assange and WikiLeaks by director Bill Condon entitled "The Fifth Estate."
